Cycle - Map - Action.

Following the demonisation of cyclists in the popular press Route > Share is a one day action for cyclists to reclaim their territory as viable inner city transport.

Cars push cyclists onto pedestrian areas because of bad town planning, pedestrians are scared of cyclists, cyclists are seen by cars as obstacles.

There must be a way we can co-exist and move around the city safely and efficiently.

The Action:To draw a collective Cycling map of Cardiff which highlights problem areas, good routes and indexes sites which are dangerous. Over one day (16th July) people who use bikes to get around are invited to contribute their thoughts and experiences to the map. This information will be used to draw an indexed guide to the city which will be useful to cyclists but, more importantly, will be a tool to present to town planners, the cycling development team etc. So that they can better understand  the day to day situation.

Take > Part:

Can you support the project by coming along on the 16th between 12- 5 and:

• Mapping your daily or frequently travelled routes.
• Marking areas on the map that are hot spots or danger zones
• Expressing your thoughts or ideas about how to improve your cycling experience.

ROUTE > SHARE Can help you by drawing you a personalised route to try out.

ROUTE > SHARE will be a light hearted social event followed by a picnic in Bute Park. However the Map and information produced during the day will be used to express our collective experience of Cycling in the city. This map will be useful as a tool to talk about cycling provision in the future.
